Free Concert - Mary Lu Brandwein-Shakuhachi Flutes - Yuki Easter on the koto

On Sunday, May 17, Mary Lu Brandweinand Yuki Easter will present a concert featuring the Shakuhachi Flutes and the Koto, a traditional Japanese string instrumet. Mary Lu Brandwein studied with the late shakuhachi Master Masakazu Yoshizawa for 25 years and has performed across the country in a variety of venues and institutions ranging from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin to the fortieth birthday party of saxophonist Kenny G. Mary Lu and Yuki have performed together as Wind and Rain Ensemble for more than 10 years.
Kumiko Esparza, a student of Yuki Easter, will also play the koto. She is a member of the Southern Koto Ensemble from Murrieta. The MTRP Foundation sponsors free concerts on designated Saturdays and Sundays.
Concerts are held in the Visitor Center Theater and begin at 3 p.m. There are only 93 seats in the theater and it is first come, first served. Donations after the concert for the musicians is appreciated.
