Seven Great Artists, One Great Show
1:00 PM - Saturday, January 03, 2015
The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation (MTRP) is pleased to present an exhibition featuring seven award winning artists who create art in various mediums.
About the Artists:
Barbara Ambler ~ Graphite, Pastel and Oil
Barbara paints and draws the local back country and creatures which challenge her eye. The desert landscape around Agua Caliente County Park is a prominent subject. A quote from Elizabeth Barrett Browning inspires her current work: crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God.
Steve Gould ~ Photography
In 2013, Steve was commissioned by Twin Lights Publishers, Rockport, MA, to create a new photography book on San Diego: San Diego, A Photographic Portrait.". Steve spent a year photographing for this project, and 185 of his images were chosen for the book. Revisiting many of his favorite locations and exploring even more new ones, photographing subjects far afield from his usual interests, Steve applied his unique vision to capture the beauty and qualities of San Diego and its surrounding communities for this new book. A selection of these images is presented in the Mission Trails Regional Park exhibit.
Elaine Harvey ~ Watercolor and Mixed Media
Elaine works in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media in a style which combines realistic and abstract elements. Using traditional and experimental approaches and the innate properties of her chosen medium, she creates innovative paintings and collages which have won more than 80 awards. Her paintings and observations on painting have appeared inside and on the cover and editorial pages of arts magazines and books by her fellow artists and arts writers. Elaine is an honor graduate of San Diego State University, and has studied with a number of noted painters. She teaches for the Athenaeum, University of California Extension, and various arts organizations.
Eileen Mandell ~ Photography
Photography is Eileen's passion. She loves exploring the details of life and nature with her camera. From horses kicking up dirt as they charge forward, to the beauty of a serene mountain lake and the awe-inspiring night sky, Eileen is fascinated with capturing a moment in time, wherever she goes.
Mark Wade ~ Photography Mixed
Mark is an avid nature photographer whose trademark works reveal an eye for pushing the camera to its fullest potential. His multiple exposure impressions are the foundation for photographs, composites and manipulations. For him, the blues and reds of sunsets are not to be captured as a simple recording. Instead, they are the emotions of the experienced moment. He strongly believes that these interpretations should be cast upon the frame in the movements and rhythms felt as he interacts with the natural world.
Cathryn Ward ~ Mixed Media
Cathryn was born and raised in San Diego. Influenced by the richness of San Diego's varied culture and scenic topography, she acquired a wide range of artistic interests. Her choice of medium is watercolor, pastels and acrylic. The eccentricity of watercolor allows for a broader spectrum of originality and creativity both in realism and abstracts. Pastels and acrylic with its predictable properties, creates a superb variation in shading texture in representational pieces.
Jennifer Wolf ~ Photography
Jennifer's artistic vision is guided by this unique planet on which we live and all the life we share it with. Her education includes a Bachelors degree in Marine Biology and a Masters degree in Ecology as well as a commercial balloon pilots license. Years in science provided the foundation for many of her nature and macro photographs. Spending summers on the road living in a travel trailer with her husband and Great Dane provides many opportunities to photograph landscapes, wildlife and pet travel.
