Free Concert - Mary Lou Bradwein - Japanese Sakahuchi Flutes + Sumi-e Art Demonstration

Mary Lu Brandwein returns with her Japanese Sakuhachi flutes to perform at 3 p.m. in the Visitor Center Theater.  Mary Lu will be joined by  and Yuki Easter on koto. The MTRP Foundation sponsored concert series is free to the public, and scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on designated Sundays, unless indicated as Saturday, in the Visitor Center Theater. Donations appreciated.

Friends of Taka Sumi-e will have a demonstration in the meeting rooms from 1 - 4:30 p.m. Friends of Taka Sumi-e is an art-based society in San Diego, California, dedicated to studying and sharing the art of Japanese style sumi-e brush painting. The society was founded in 2002 and currently has more than 100 members.

The society’s founder and guiding light is Takashi Ryuho Ijichi, long-time San Diego Community College art instructor and a leading figure in  San Diego’s Japanese cultural community.  The society hosts an annual Art Show & Exhibition in March in Balboa Park.
