Free concert - Yuko Maruyama - jazz pianist
3:00 PM - Sunday, August 07, 2016
1 Hour

Jazz pianist Yuko Maruyama will perform original compositions and arrangements of favorite standards on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 3pm for the Mission Trails Regional Park Sunday concert series. Yuko will be joined by bassist Doug Walker, and special guests.

A native of Tokyo, Japan, Yuko has toured the U.S. with her CD, “In Tone Nation,” for Kawai Piano Company in 2002. The album contains all original compositions and was the first recording to feature the Shigeru Kawai piano, a special line of all-handcrafted concert grand pianos from Japan. Yuko’s upcoming album project, “Piano Bento,” due in the fall of 2016, features her original compositions and arrangements as well as the Shigeru Kawai piano, and this time she incorporates an assortment of other pianos, from antiquated to electronic, to create a unique blend of sounds and instrumentation.

The MTRP Foundation presents free concerts on scheduled Sundays and several Saturdays. All concerts begin at 3:00 p.m.  There are only 93 seats in the theater and it is first come, first served. Everyone in the theater must be seated per the City of San Diego Fire Marshall.
