Join MTRP Trail Guide and amateur astronomer, George Varga, at the far end of the Kumeyaay Lake Campground's Day Use Parking Lot, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. A telescope will be available to view the nighttime sky! In consideration of others, no lanterns or white-light flashlights are permitted near the telescope. * Note: Cancelled if raining or cloudy.
It is the night of the Full Moon which will rise about the time the Sun sets. Jupiter will be high in the Western sky. Mars and Saturn may become visible in the Eastern sky about halfway through the star party. The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51), Sunflower Galaxy (M63), Black-Eye Galaxy (M64) and Sombrero Galaxy (M104) are in good position for viewing.
