Join MTRP Trail Guide and amateur astronomer, George Varga, at the far end of the Kumeyaay Lake Campground's Day Use Parking Lot, from 7 to 10 p.m. A telescope will be available to view the nighttime sky! In consideration of others, no lanterns or white-light flashlights are permitted near the telescope. * Note: Cancelled if raining or cloudy.
The Moon will not rise until after the Star Party. Planet Jupiter will be rising in the Southeast and one will be able to see some of its Moons. Ursa Major is high up so it will be possible to view the Whirlpool Galaxy (M51), and Galaxies M81 and M82, light pollution permitting. The Beehive Custer, M44, and Open Cluster M35, in Gemini, are in the Western sky.
