Join MTRP Trail Guide and amateur astronomer, George Varga, at the far end of the Kumeyaay Lake Campground's Day Use Parking Lot, from 5 to 8 p.m. A telescope will be available to view the nighttime sky! In consideration of others, no lanterns or white-light flashlights are permitted near the telescope. * Note: Cancelled if raining or cloudy.
Tonight is the night of New Moon, so the Moon will not add to the city’s light pollution. The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and its companion M32 are in good position for viewing. Light from these two objects takes about 2.5 million years to reach Earth! The Double Cluster in Perseus will be in the Northeastern sky. There will be no planets visible tonight.
