Mountain Bike with a MTRP Ranger Nature Ride Series

Looking for a new family outdoor activity? Want to know the park and increase your mountain bike skills? Join Ranger Araceli Dominguez for this fun, nature and progressive beginner to intermediate series of rides. Come early adn volunteers from the San Diego mountain Biking Association will help you make adjustments to your bike. Every following ride's difficulty will increase a little so you can try new skillls and get comfortable with your bike. Remember to bring plenty of water, a helmet, sunscreen and snacks. Wet trails cancels ride.
October 7, 2017 - Ride #1: Newbees and Families at 9am
Location: Oak Grove Loop from the Visitor Center
Easy ride for all type of riders. Learn the different types of terrain and habitats. Trails are mostly flat except for short sections. Learn how to shift, brake and control your bike while learning about the park's natural resources. Less than 10 miles with option for more.
November 4, 2017 - Ride #2: Moderate/Fit Beginner at 9AM
Location: West Sycamore dirt lot at the east end of Stonebridge Pkwy
Enjoy the vistas as you ride this new area to the park. We'll start on gently service roads where you may see birds of prey rising to eye level on thermos from the canyons below. We'll ride a new wide singletrack down through Beeler Canyon. Maximum distance will be 10 miles.
December 2, 2017 - Ride #3: Intermediate Riders Only at 9AM
Location: West Fortuna dirt lot at end of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
Test your skills in this area of coastal sage with views of the ocean. We'll be riding at least 10 miles of up and down on service roads and narrow trails, such as E-ticket and Rock garden. This is not a beginner ride. Ride consists of steep hills, bends, zigzags, tigh turns and riding over medium to large rocks.
Series repeats every three months, except July - September.
