Join MTRP Trail Guide and amateur astronomer, George Varga, at the far end of the Kumeyaay Lake Campground's Day Use Parking Lot, from 5 to 8 p.m. A telescope will be available to view the nighttime sky! In consideration of others, no lanterns or white-light flashlights are permitted near the telescope. * Note: Cancelled if raining or cloudy.
A thin crescent Moon and the planet Venus will be setting in the West but may not be visible because of the Fortuna Mountain Range. The Orion Nebula (M42), Open Clusters M36, M37, M38 in Auriga, M35 in Gemini, and the Little Beehive Cluster (M41) in Canis Major are well placed for viewing. The Andromeda Galaxy M31 and companion M32 are almost on the Meridian and also well placed for viewing.
