The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation (MTRP) is pleased to present “Trails” ~ an exhibition featuring an award-winning plein air artist Margaret Larlham.

This exhibit will be on display in the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Art Gallery from January 21 – February 10, 2012. The public is cordially invited to a reception in honor of the artist on Sunday, January 22, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

About the Artist:
Margaret Larlham paints outdoors - most often from mesa or canyon in Mission Trails Preserve, near her home in San Diego. She has grown to love this California landscape of distant mountains, dry stony washes and the diversity, fragility and hardiness of the chaparral and play of light at different times of the day and season.

Born in Durban, South Africa, Margaret moved to San Diego with her husband, Peter, and children in 1986. While waiting for legal residency in the United States she studied art in the Fine Art Department at San Diego State University. She began exhibiting paintings in local galleries soon after, and her work has since found residence in many private collections.

She has a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Kwazulu-Natal and is currently tenured in the School of Theatre, Television, and Film at San Diego State University. Margaret is a constant painter. She is drawn to wilderness landscape. For many years she has set up her easel in Mission Trails near her home.
This exhibition, featuring recent landscapes of Mission Trails and a few from recent return visits to Africa has become a meaningful highpoint for her as a visual artist.

She recently received an Honorable Mention in Southwest Art magazines 2011 Artistic Excellence competition. She is represented by Santa Ysabel Art Gallery. Website and contact: http://margaretlarlham.com/
