Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation offers opportunities for visual artists to display
their work. Currently, these displays are limited to two-dimensional works. Displays of
artwork are rotated every four weeks throughout the year. Regardless of the media, certain
criteria must be followed as outlined by the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation.
Information and applications for exhibit consideration is available at the Visitor Center
from May 1st through June 30th for the next exhibition year. For additional information,

Wilma Lopez and Joan Everds
The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation is pleased to present, "A Delightful Presentation by Wilma and Joan" an exhibition of Encaustic (wax) Painting by Wilma López, and Photographer by Joan Everds. The exhibition will be on display in the 14,700 square foot air conditioned Mission Trails Regional Gallery from August 14 - September 10, 2010.
Award-winning Encaustic painter Wilma J. López first saw a demonstration of encaustic art or wax painting in a shopping center in Maryland. Fascinated, she was determined to teach herself how to paint using this exotic, but ancient medium. Since that time, Wilma has become a nationally renowned encaustic painter who has won numerous awards on both coasts of the United States. Ms. López teaches beginning and intermediate encaustic painting classes from her home in Escondido.
Of her paintings, Ms. López states, Through my encaustic paintings I try to create unique original works which perfectly balance my knowledge of color and technique. I am self-taught and I have spent many hours learning and perfecting my art. My usage of color and design is a reflection of the freedom I experience working in this very challenging medium.
Award-winning Photographer Joan Everds studied photography at Barat College and the Art Institute in Chicago. After working in traditional photography for over 25 years, she now strives to achieve that same sense of classic elegance in her digital work. Along with her regular work, Ms. Everds also does digital paintings/portraits from photographs of people, homes, gardens and favorite vacation spots.
Of her photography, Ms. Everds' states, Creating Art with my camera has always been my passion. Now, the freedom afforded by computer technology has opened a new path of artistic expression. This new medium allows me to create new work envisioned but unattainable before. My images start with a photo which I often enhance using the computer and paint to achieve the result I desire. And all this is so much FUN!
The exhibit will be on display in the beautiful Mission Trails Gallery located in the 14,700 square foot air conditioned Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor and Interpretive Center. The Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. and is located at: One Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego, 92119. Admission is free.
