Become a Mission Trails Regional Park Volunteer

Mission Trails Regional Park needs volunteers for the Visitor and Interpretive Center, which is open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers welcome visitors and answer phones, respond to questions about the Park and its programs, give directions to the trailheads and assist in the gift shop. Morning (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and afternoon (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) shifts are available. Volunteers may work once or twice a month or more often if desired. Personalized on-the-job training is provided, which includes in-depth information about the over 6,000 acre reserve. Awards for service are presented at an annual ceremony in February and volunteers are invited to a holiday party in December.

Mission Trails Regional Park is one of the nation’s largest natural urban parks with over 40 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails, five mountain peaks (including Cowles Mountain), several miles of the San Diego River (including the historic Old Mission Dam) and Lake Murray. MTRP is the largest of all the parks managed by the San Diego Park and Recreation system. It is located at the east end of Mission Valley, only 15 minutes from downtown San Diego.

More information is available at www.mtrp.org/volunteer.asp or by contacting Center Director David Lee at (619) 668-3278 or dlee@mtrp.org
